產品功能/特色

Our bold design and vintage sound are inspired by the 1920s Magnavox R3 horn speaker. Its form and function are a marriage of vintage and modern aesthetics – producing a timeless piece that allows you to stream nostalgia.

At the turn of the century, gramophones were promoted as the home entertainment center. Family and friends bonded over songs, speeches and radio dramas. The Gramovox Bluetooth Gramophone maintains this spirit of communal bonding and recaptures that warmth with a vintage meets modern aesthetic.

Our S-curve horn is a 3:4 scale reproduction of the 1920s R3 Magnavox horn. It is acoustically-optimized to brilliantly amplify music generated from the wood base. Our final horns will be manufactured out of steel and brass. For our prototype we used stereolithography (SLA) to 3D print the horn. After printing it, we painted/textured the horn black and silk-screened our logo. We chose a clean, classic typeface for a beautiful aesthetic complement.

Our horn is complemented by a sleek, minimalist wood base. Its straight lines juxtaposed with the curves of the horn produce a compelling aesthetic. For our wood base prototype we selected solid, 12/4 walnut from a local lumber yard. After milling it down, we CNC'd the inner cavity for our horn hole, speaker and electronics. Lastly, we sanded and finished it with a satin lacquer clear-coat.

We sourced and developed audio electronics that are acoustically-optimized for the Gramovox. We sourced an audio driver, developed a custom printed circuit board (PCB) with a bluetooth 3.0 module and 3D-printed a base plate.

After an exhaustive vetting process, we've selected the best metalsmiths, woodcraftsmen and electronics manufacturers for our product. Below we detail how we'll mass-manufacture the product.

Master metal fabricators will skillfully fabricate the horns using some of the manufacturing methods from the 1920s. The cone component is spun on a lathe and the neck is hydroformed out of sheets of steel. Afterward, these parts are hand-welded together, polished and powder-coated black.

Master wood craftsmen from Ohio will hand-select the most aesthetically-pleasing wood boards from the lumber yards. Afterward, the inner cavity is CNC'd for our horn hole, speaker and electronics. Lastly, it's sanded and finished with a satin lacquer clear-coat.

Our final PCBs, speakers and base plates will be manufactured in Michigan by high-quality machinery and skilled engineers.

As sound waves propagate through the horn, you experience an organically mid-range, vintage sound
